The University of Thessaly (UTH), Department of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering Laboratory, Greeceand the Civil Engineerʼs Association of Magnesia (CEAM) are co-organizing the 2nd Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility in Volos, Greece on 5 and 6 May 2014. The conference is organized under the support of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), Magnesia Division, the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers (SES), the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks in the frame of the Hellenic Presidency of the EU Council. The conference will give specific focus on assessing ITS applications for informing passengers pre-trip and en-route, by addressing the theme of ITS in public transport and the human factor. Papers related to sustainable urban mobility are welcome to be presented at the conference, under the topics: Public transport planning ITS technologies and solutions in public transport Social Media and Public Transport Modeling Public Transport Transit Quality of Service Public transport and the human factor Public transport management and Crowdsourcing Sustainability and soft modes of transport.

After a significant number of requests, the conference committees decided to enable two options to participate in the conference:

– option 2: extended abstract submission (1000 words, template available: https://sites.google.com/site/sustainableurbanmobility/templates)

For both options the new deadline for submission is the 11th of April, 2014.

Authors will be notified of the paper/abstract peer review results on the 22nd of April, 2014. Authors of accepted papers will receive comments for any requested revisions. Final papers responding to these comments should be resubmitted by April 30, 2014.

Accepted papers and abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings in the relevant sections. Selected full papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of EURO Journal on Transportation and Logistics.
