The Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens’ School of Civil Engineering (www.civil.ntua.gr) is currently seeking a post-doctoral researcher to work under the supervision of Associate Professor Matthew G. Karlaftis.

Candidate’s Profile:

Academic Background

• PhD Degree in Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics or Operations Research with a focus on Optimization and/or Emergency Response.
• Strong academic background in the field of Operations Research.
• Prior experience in the field of transportation planning will be considered an asset.

Experience

• Proven experience in applying optimization methods, mathematical programming and meta-heuristic algorithms in real world problems is a prerequisite.

Languages

• Excellent command of the English language (oral and written).

Competencies

• The candidate must exhibit excellent analytical thinking and writing skills. He/she will be required to participate in preparing project reports.
• The candidate must also be able to manage time effectively, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Team spirit is also required.
