Faculty: Architecture, Design and Urban Studies (FADEU), and Engineering
Description: The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, through its Centre for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS) – Fondap Project/Conicyt (Chilean government funding sources), wishes to employ an Assistant Professor in Urban mobility, planning, design and landscape. CEDEUS is a research centre for sustainable urban development that brings together researchers from different faculties. This specific post will be shared between the faculties of Architecture, Design and Urban Studies (FADEU), and Engineering. CEDEUS is a space for the creation and exchange of research-based knowledge that seeks to improve quality of life in urban areas, based on considerations of equity, environmental quality and efficient natural resource use. The Centre wishes to establish itself as a national and international reference point for research and debate on urban sustainable development challenges in Chile and also in relation to experiences in other countries.
Requirements:
– The applicant should have an undergraduate degree, a PhD and experience in fields such as urban planning, urban design, transport engineering or sustainable mobility, including its spatial dimensions. Candidates without a PhD at the time of application should confirm that they have a thesis defence scheduled before 1 August 2014
– Authorship of at least 3 ISI publications
– Experience of university teaching
– Involvement in research projects
– Oral and written ability in Spanish and English (highly recommended)
– Use of geographical information and representation systems.
Area of specialisation: Themes relating to problems such as: human behaviour and urban dynamics; strategic planning and urban design; policies, financing and implementation of contemporary, complex urban processes.
