KTH Royal Institute of Technology is seeking for an Assistant professor in public transport systems. The assistant professor will contribute to ongoing research and educational projects, but successively initiate own activities and thereby achieve increasing levels of independence. Public transport systems
The subject encompasses the development and application of methods and models for analysis, planning, evaluation, and design of public transport systems. The subject area integrates societal, environmental, economic, and social perspectives to achieve effective, attractive, and sustainable public transport systems.
Important application areas include the analysis of investments, operations and management systems, timetables, system networks, and organisational issues.
Duties included in the appointment
The assistant professor will contribute to ongoing research and educational projects, but successively initiate own activities and thereby achieve increasing levels of independence. The incumbent will contribute to research education and fulfill the requirements to become a primary doctoral supervisor. The incumbent will seek external financing and work closely with the department’s associated research centers, as well as other environments and stakeholders both within and outside of KTH, especially in the public transport sector.
Eligibility
To qualify for employment as assistant professor, one must have completed a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is judged to be equivalent to a doctoral degree, or hold equivalent scientific competence.
Most relevant for the position are those who have completed their doctoral degrees within a maximum of seven years before the application deadline. Those who completed their doctoral degrees earlier may be considered if there are special reasons to do so.
Assessment criteria
Special emphasis is placed on the applicant’s scientific skills in the subject area, as shown through publications in high-quality international journals. Special emphasis is also placed on capability to finance activities through external sources and a good capability to collaborate with the surrounding society, both in general and particularly the public transport sector. The applicant will be able to participate in undergraduate courses in Swedish. Documented experience and knowledge of programming, economics, and psychology is also given consideration.
Assessment criteria for promotion to Associate professor
When applying for promotion to associate professor, special weight is placed on the applicant’s independent capabilities, partly to obtain external financing for research activities and partly to carry out research of high scientific quality, published in international peer-reviewed journals. Special emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s capability to collaborate with the surrounding society, both in general and particularly the public transport sector.
