The Niedersächsische Technische Hochschule (NTH) has a position opening for α Postdoctoral Researcher (salary scale E14 TV L) specializing on Modeling and Simulation of Traffic Networks in the Research Training Group (RTG) “Social Cars – (de-)centralized traffic management” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The position is available from April 2014 for a period of two years.
The overall objective of the SocialCars RTG is to research new methods and applications of decentralized, cooperative traffic management. SocialCars focuses on the interplay of centralized management in the sense of classical traffic control, and decentralized management in the sense of the local goals of individual traffic participants. A cross-cutting methodological topic of the RTG is the simulation of systems and nets, covering aspects such as traffic flow, communication, distributed systems and agents, including the description and simulation of user behavior. The PostDoc shall conduct independent research in this area in collaboration with the participants in the program.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background and very good PhD in one of the disciplines of the RTG, with special focus on modeling and simulation. A very good command of the English language is required. The candidate shall conduct independent research together with the other participants in the RTG and will bring in his/her methodological expertise into both the research and the course program of the RTG.
We offer an attractive employment in an interdisciplinary team in an outstanding work environment at the Niedersächsische Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF), with access to a leading academic and industrial network in the areas of mobility, traffic, and automotive engineering. Candidates will work on a highly topical, relevant, and dynamic research area, which allows for an excellent qualification. SocialCars provides a unique setting for interdisciplinary collaboration of experts of the three Universities in Hannover, Braunschweig and Clausthal in the fields of traffic planning, traffic psychology, computer science, communication, business informatics, and geoinformatics.
NTH strives to increase its proportion of female staff and specifically encourages qualified women to apply.
Disabled persons with corresponding aptitude for the positions will be favored.
Screening of applications will begin on 15 February 2014 and will end when the position is filled. Please send your application in German or English language in electronic form (PDF) to the following address: bewerbungen@socialcars.org. Applications must include CV, full academic record, as well as a Research Statement (two pages) highlighting your motivation, interest and personal strengths, and your research ideas for the field Modeling and Simulation of Traffic Networks.
Further details about the RTG can be found on the SocialCars website (www.social-cars.org).
